Most families are on the same cell phone plan — it’s often the cheapest way to go. In a divorce, this gets tricky, however. The account owner can see your call information, for example, which might not be something you want to share.
The problem is that many plans are under contract. So, how do you separate plans the contract runs for another year but you do not trust each other?
So, there are really only two options: breaking your plan and paying the penalty, or coming to an arrangement and agreeing to each pay part of the bill for the duration of the contract. If the issue is less about saving money and more about privacy, then you might want to strongly consider paying the cancellation fee and getting out of the joint plan.
